ima switch to my old ati to see if that's the problem because it got worse and what about the sli and normal mode? i dont know what that is

You'll want normal. SLI doesn't apply unless you have two graphic cards, and technically doesn't even apply to ATI.

by the way.
when that happens and i take a screenshot. everything turns back to normal
and this is only happening in phophecy and faction not nightfall... maybe because i used the nightfall CD to install guildwar but not the prophecy and faction cd...

No, that won't do it, no matter how you install the game, its the same game client...

Sounds like the graphics card is buggered, try your older one and see if its happening, if that doesn't help, you've messed up the build somewhere along the line

You could try looking for an adapter if you can't get a PSU with the right connectors.

One of mine did have an 8-pin connector as well, but it was not needed or required by anything on my board.

Also, you need to make sure that the power supply that you have will work with that board. The power supply should have a 24-pin main board connector. Sometimes a 2x2 portion of that connector can be detached so that it fits on the older 20-pin boards, but don't try to make a connector that only had 20 pins to start work with a 24-pin setup.

Also, if you didn't ground yourself with something like an ESD strap, or continually maintain contact with something like the metal portion of the chassis while putting this all together, you may have damaged several components with static electricity. Building your own computer can save money, but you do need to take some precautions and be aware of certain things so that you don't damage anything.

Based on the screenshots I've seen here, my bet is that at the minimum your video card is fried. I'd recommend replacing it and see if the problem persists.

If something else was fried it likely wouldn't start at all, or crash instead of just displaying video artifacts.

I had similar issues when a GeForce 7900 GS I got had faulty video memory, the graphics would become glitchy (polygons stretching into infinity, textures disappearing etc.) if a game used the faulty part of the memory for something, this could happen after one minute of gaming, or could take several hours. Got it replaced for free after contacting the store I bought it from.

The MB shipped with a CD right? The CD has the chipset drivers on it, as well as USB drivers, the Realtek audio drivers, nVidia RAID controller, and all the other stuff you need. Oh, and you really should install the uGuru utility.

But you know, the weird thing is, you are able to connect to the internet. How were you able to do that if you didn't install the network adapter driver? And looking at your system specs, the Realtek High Def audio driver is there too. That means you installed some of the drivers from the CD, if not the chipset driver.

Btw, I think someone told you do check for BIOS updates. Don't bother. BIOS should never be flashed on a system that returns memory/cpu errors, and it's very doubtful that your system is completely stable if you don't even have the right power connectors. It's amazing the machine POSTed at all without the AATX12V1 connected -- you shoulda got POST error code 8.2. Strange that you didn't.

You really should run some diagnostics, e.g Orthos SP2004 (v0.41.110.18)....
